About Me

Artist Julie Armendariz

Born and raised in small town Kansas, I knew I wanted to be an Artist as a young child. I can remember watching my mom draw and thinking how realistic her art looked. I wanted to draw something just as realistic. I still love the challenge of realistic drawings, while also enjoying the freedom of the creative process. Whether I am layering watercolors with colored pencil, painting with acrylic, or crafting a birdhouse I find the process both fun and challenging. Leaving Kansas in 1987, I moved to Oregon where I currently reside with my family. The natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest has inspired my art and photography. I often enjoy incorporating a photograph as reference in my work. I also find inspiration in wildlife, people, and my faith in God.

I have been an active member of Village Gallery of Arts, a community gallery in Oregon, since 2010 where I currently serve as the Chair of Cards and Bin Art.

I have participated in various shows, including:

2021 Frame Central- group show

2019 Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts – open show

2018 Beaverton City Hall - group show

2018 Portland Justice Center - group show
